Clinical specialization in physical therapy responds to a specific area of patient need and requires knowledge, skill and experience exceeding that of the physical therapist at entry to the profession and unique to the specialized area of practice. The specialist certification program was established to provide formal recognition for physical therapists with advanced clinical knowledge, experience and skills in a special area of practice and to assist consumers and the health care community in identifying these physical therapists.Dr. Freeman’s OCS certification recognizes her specialization in orthopedics.

BIOGRAPHY

Anna is a board certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist in Physical Therapy. She studied Dance and Communication at the University of Iowa and received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Shenandoah University in 2019.

Anna’s clinical practice combines manual therapy with movement pattern retraining in a way that is particularly helpful for clients with hypermobility and persistent pain. Beyond addressing clients’ pain and dysfunction, her goal is to empower each person with understanding and tools for self management.

For 7 years, she developed her practice in performing arts medicine in the Washington, DC region, serving local and touring performers from Shakespeare Theatre Company, The Joffrey Ballet, Akram Khan Dance Company, Ballet X, and more.

She served as PT and director of the health and wellness program at The Washington Ballet for 3 years. The program developed and implemented creative strategies for managing injury risk and lowering the financial burden of injury for the company. With her clinical team, they built an environment focused on physical and mental health to optimize not only the athletic performance but also the artistic integrity of each dancer.

Anna continues to grow as a clinician through active membership in the Performing Arts Medicine Association (PAMA), International Association of Dance Medicine and Science (IADMS), and American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). She’s completed further education through Evidence in Motion (EIM) and the Neuro Orthopedic Institute Australasia (Noigroup).

Anna recently relocated to Midtown Atlanta. She enjoys food, wine, and travel with her husband, dog walks in the park, and creating sidewalk chalk art with her niece.
