Georgia Passes House Bill 505, Which Allows a New Measure of Direct Access to Physical Therapy ServicesATLANTA (March 31, 2015)
HB 505 passed its last legislative hurdle. The House agreed with the Senate’s amendment by a vote of 166-0. HB 505 now goes to Governor Deal for his signature. Don’t forget to thank all of our Georgia legislators who supported HB 505.

A BILL to be entitled an Act to amend Chapter 33 of Title 43 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to physical therapists, so as to revise various provisions regarding the licensure and regulation of physical therapists and physical therapy assistants; to revise definitions; to include additional powers of the State Board of Physical Therapy; to revise provisions regarding use of titles; to revise provisions regarding granting licenses and discipline of licensees; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

Decatur resident and owner of Intown Physical Therapy Dr. Ingrid Anderson, PT, DPT, OCS, is among nearly 100 physical therapists from across the country convening in Washington, D.C. as part of the first-ever fly-in hosted by the Private Practice Section of the American Physical Therapy Association on July 22 and July 23. Anderson — chair of the public relations committee for the Physical Therapy Association of Georgia – will meet with congressional representatives and discuss hard-hitting issues affecting the future of healthcare, the physical therapy profession, small business owners and their patients.
“Our health care system faces critical regulatory and policy issues as one of the nation’s most constantly evolving occupations,” says Anderson. “We want to ensure the voice of Georgia’s physical therapists and their patients is heard, and effective treatment options will continue to be made available.”

Congratulations to Ingrid Anderson, physical therapy alumna, for her appointment as the 2013 Physical Therapy Association of Georgia (PTAG) public relations chair.
Anderson represents more than 7,400 licensed physical therapists and PT assistants in Georgia for all of the association’s communications issues and works with the PTAG board of directors on all association marketing and communications needs. Her appointment was reported in the Decatur Neighbor newspaper.
She previously served as vice-chair and chair for the American Physical Therapy Associations’ nominating committee and as a delegate to the association’s House of Delegates.
A 2010 graduate of Georgia State’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program, Anderson operates her own private practice clinic, Intown Physical Therapy, in Atlanta.

Decatur resident and physical therapist Dr. Ingrid Anderson, PT, DPT, OCS, has been appointed the 2013 Physical Therapy Association of Georgia public relations chair.
In her new leadership role, Anderson will coordinate with the association board of directors and assist with marketing and communications outreach efforts in Georgia. She will also serve as a communications liaison and resource for the 7,419 licensed physical therapists and physical therapy assistants across the state.
“We are excited to introduce Ingrid as the newest public relations chair,” said association President Dr. Barney Poole, PT, DPT, ATC. “Ingrid carries a number of excellent qualities, among them her background in journalism and business marketing experience that make her a great representative for both the committee and physical therapy profession.”
Anderson is a member of the association and the American Physical Therapy Association, having served as both vice-chair and chairwoman for the association’s nominating committee and a delegate to the American association’s House of Delegates.
Anderson received her bachelor’s degree in journalism from Oglethorpe University and received her doctorate in physical therapy from Georgia State University. She completed the Mercer Orthopaedic Residency program, where she focused her studies on neurodynamics and myofascial pain.
She recently opened her own private practice, Intown Physical Therapy, in Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward neighborhood and serves as an adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at Mercer University.
